23 miles — accomplished!

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Amy continued her training today for the Dublin marathon, running 23 miles along the Deschutes River Trail.

We are fortunate to live in such a beautiful place. One couldn’t ask for a more picturesque location to train. Well maintained dirt trails along the Deschutes River from SW Bend to Sunriver, passing at least two waterfalls along the way. Light hail fell as Amy wound her way through the aspens, ponderosa pines and lava rock fields.

Today marks Amy’s longest run in preparation for the Dublin marathon on October 26. Despite a little trouble with her knees, it appears Amy is ready. She’ll run a half marathon next weekend here in Bend–the Dirty 2nd Half–and then taper down from there. The hard work is now done; race day is the celebration for all of the training.
